Emotionally charged Americana music is Lisa Martin’s hallmark sound. Drawing on diverse influences spanning the last 4 decades, Martin’s music bridges the elements of folk, rock, country and blues with her pop sensibilities always highly evident in the mix. Whether performing solo or with a full band, she is always well received and captivates the audience with her expressive vocals, guitar prowess, heartfelt delivery and quick wit. Her live performances, which run the gamut from well crafted original songs to covers of the era’s most popular female artists and rock classics from the 60’s to today’s Modern Rock, always exceed the listeners expectations and are steadily earning her a following of loyal fans throughout the Northeast.

A Western MA native, Martin has performed regionally in the northeast and in parts of the mid-west. She has opened for many nationally touring artists including Melanie, Patty Larkin, Vonda Shephard, Livingston Taylor, Aztec Two-Step, Steve Forbert, Ellis Paul, Vance Gilbert, David Wilcox, Toshi Reagon and others and has headlined at the legendary Iron Horse Music Hall, in her home territory of Northampton, MA. Highlights of her regional performances include the Newport Sunset Festival, the Hear In Rhode Island stage at the Newport Folk Festival, the Providence Folk Festival, Ladies ’n Lyrics concert series, the Midwest Music Summit and the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance Conference. She also performs in and around Nashville TN including an appearance at Antique Archaeology from the TV show “American Pickers”.

Founder of the New England Women Songwriters Collaborative, Martin continually seeks opportunities for female songwriters to showcase their music and grow their audiences in addition to giving back to the community. An offshoot of NEWSC is the Wine, Women & Song concert series started in 2014 in which proceeds from events are donated to the patient fund at the Sister Caritas Cancer Center in Springfield MA. As a breast cancer survivor and oncology nurse, this is a cause near and dear to Martin’s heart.

She also hosts a monthly songwriter series dedicated to the craft of songwriting called Songwriter Sessions which features a songwriting assignment for participating artists based on a theme chosen by the audience. In-the-round, intimate performances by local, regional and nationally touring artists, plus a Hootenanny during intermission have made it a popular destination for music lovers and listeners for the past 9 years.

With 3 CDs under her belt and a 4th in progress, Martin has been recognized for her music and live performances over the years, most recently with a win for Best Country/Americana Artist in the 2015 Worcester Music Awards. She also took the 4th spot in the Ladylake Indie Music Awards’ Top 10 Indie Artists of 2014. Also in 2014, her song “Good Love Is Hard To Find” was selected by a panel of judges to be included on the “Valley Rising Compilation Volume 3”. Her debut CD, “Set Me On Fire”, garnered 2 nominations in the Just Plain Folks Music Awards in 2001 and was also recognized in 2003, earning a Live Wire Award from the Springfield Republican, which recognized 10 local artists/bands for that year. Her follow up CD “Lisa Martin Live”, recorded at the Iron Horse Music Hall, was released in 2007 and led to another Best Song/Americana nomination in 2009 in the Just Plain Folks Music Awards which led to an international showcase performance at BB King’s Blues Club in Nashville TN. “Winter Songs” her 3rd release was quickly embraced by numerous indie and NPR radio stations and was the vehicle that lead to her recognition by international music promoters Ladylake Music. Positive reviews from fans and critics continue to trickle in as Martin’s exposure grows.
